Every adolescent girl has her fair share of celebrity crushes – Justin Bieber, Jonas Brothers, etc. However not every girl can say she has met any of them in person. Unless you’re Sasha and Malia Obama. The first daughters have been able to meet many of their favorite celebrities since moving their father was elected president.
Last week while in Los Angeles with their mother, they met twin brothers Cole and Dylan Sprouse on the set of their TV show “The Suite Life on Deck.” According to E! Online, the set visit was planned and the Secret Service scoped out the set a week prior to the visit.
Hollywood is bringing the life of one of the most famous US first ladies, Jacqueline Kennedy, theatres and TV. Oscar-winning actress Rachel Weisz is set to portray the former first lady and fashion icon in the biopic, “Jackie.” The film will reenact the four days between President Kennedy’s assassinations and his burial to show Mrs. Kennedy “at both her most vunerable and her most graceful.”
So, how did a British actress nab the role of an American? First, as noted above she’s an Oscar winner who has put her American accent to use in “The Brothers Bloom” and “The Lovely Bones.” Second, it doesn’t hurt that the director and producer of the film, Darren Aronofsky, is her fiancé and father of her son. Third, there’s no denying the resemblance.
No release date is known since Aronofsky is still courting distributors.
Meanwhile, People reports Katie Holmes will play the first lady in an eight hour mini-series, “The Kennedys.” Scheduled to air on the History Channel in 2011, other actors include Greg Kinnear, Tom Wilkinson, and Barry Pepper.
So, are you looking forward to watching yet another movie about Mrs. Kennedy?
The cast of FOX‘s hit series, “Glee Club,” has been invited by the First Lady to perform at the annual White House Easter Egg Roll on April 5th. It has been reported Michelle, Sasha, and Malia are huge fans of the show. The producers must be fans of the White House too–they’re going to adjust their production schedule to accomodate the request.
In other TV news, Mike Huckabee’sinterview with Michelle scored his “Huckabee” show its lowest ratings ever. Interesting but not all that surprising.

Later, the nation’s governors and their spouses attended the annual black-tie event in the White House’s State Dining Room. The menu included traditional fare such as rib eye roast and baked Alaska. As far as the First Lady’s attire – it looks like she had a change of heart. At the preview, she said she would wear white but ended up wearing a black gown by Thakoon.
The highly-anticipated interview with Mike Huckabee and Michelle aired over the weekend on Fox News. It was a big shock the First Lady even agreed to the interview considering the network isn’t a big fan of the Obama administration. The 20-minute appearance was part of her media tour to promote her childhood obesity campaign, “Let’s Move.” Topics such as exercise and healthy eating were all discussed. Hear are some highlights:
Does she watch Fox News: The living quarters are a “news-free zone.” However, she noted she would watch her interview on Saturday.
Why did she choose to focus on childhood obesity: “…This is a solvable issue because it’s community based…it doesn’t require new technology or new research; we the solutions in our hand.”
“Huckabee” is a regular Fox News program hosted by the former Arkansas governor and possible 2012 Republican presidential nominee.
In her effort to promote her healthy living agenda, Mrs. Obama has taped an episode of Iron Chef America at the White House which will air January 3, 2010.
The taping marks the first time a First Lady or any member of the White House staff has appeared on a TV reality show.
During this episode of the popular show, which paired Cristeta Comerford (Executive Chef at the White House) and Bobby Flay to compete against Mario Batali and Emeril Lagasse, Mrs. Obama talked about the importance of making vegetables a part of children’s diet. Vegetables from the White House garden were used to prepare the meals featured in the show.
British cook Nigella Lawson (think Rachel Ray), actress Jane Seymour, and American Olympic swimmer Natalie Coughlin served as judges.
Tomorrow, the First Lady stops by Sesame Street to mark the children’s program 40th anniversary. While there, she’ll encourage kids to plant vegetables such as carrots, lettuce, and cucumbers. Great message to promote. We have a feeling she’s going to start a “it’s cool to garden” trend.
