White House Social Secretary and close friend of the Obama family, Desiree Rogers, has resigned after overseeing 330 events in 14 months.
The resignation comes just months after the whole Salahi incident in which the infamous couple crashed the State Dinner. Desiree was highly criticized for her role in the major breach of security.
However, there was no mention of the Salahi’s when she spoke with Lynn Sweet, “This is a good time for me to explore opportunities in the corporate world.” When I took on this assignment, we talked about the importance of creating the people’s house. My work has really to create this framework. I think I complete that work. Our office has been able to lay the foundation for what will be known as the ‘people’s house’ and it has already taken shape.”

Her replacement is Julianna Smoot who was behind the President’s fundraising operation.

Happy birthday to Michelle, who turns 46 today. Last night, the President surprised the First Lady with a surprise dinner at Washington’s Restaurant Nora. They spent nearly four hours at the restaurant known for its organic menu.
Guests included Michelle Obama’s mother, Marian Robinson; U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and his wife, Sharon Malone; the president’s special adviser, Valerie Jarrett; and the first lady’s chief of staff, Susan Sher.

So, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) decided to use the First Lady’s image on a poster for its “Fur-free and Fabulous” campaign. The problem? According to the White House, PETA never received permission to use her image nor did they attempt to contact them regarding the campaign.
The posters, also featuring Tyra Banks, Carrie Underwood, and Oprah Winfrey, are only posted at two metro and railway stations in Washington.

Last week at the Kennedy Center Honors event, the First Lady once again wowed us with a gorgeous purple pleated strapless gown by Chicago-based designer Peter Soren. It wasn’t the first time she’s worn Soren, but this bold number is sure to get him more recognition.

They’re no barbies, but if you’re a Michelle Obama fan or looking for a Christmas gift idea the Michelle Obama action figure goes on sale this Friday. Retailing at $12.99, the 6-inch doll comes in three versions – each one in a sleeveless dress similar to one worn by Mrs. Obama.
- The black and white dress she wore on “The View” during the campaign
- The purple dress she wore when she and her husband engaged in the infamous fist bump
- The red and black dress she wore on election night.
According to Jailbreak Toys – the same company behind the popular Barack Obama action figures – makes it clear on its Web site the “product is not formally endorsed by or affiliated with Michelle Obama.”

First ladies have always been known to employ large staffs (and catch flack for it) and Michelle is no different. Her staff of 22 accounts for over $1.6 million in salaries paid. Listed below are the staff members including job titles and salary.

We wouldn’t mind having a job title including the words “for the First Lady” on our resume.
