Hollywood is bringing the life of one of the most famous US first ladies, Jacqueline Kennedy, theatres and TV. Oscar-winning actress Rachel Weisz is set to portray the former first lady and fashion icon in the biopic, “Jackie.” The film will reenact the four days between President Kennedy’s assassinations and his burial to show Mrs. Kennedy “at both her most vunerable and her most graceful.”
So, how did a British actress nab the role of an American? First, as noted above she’s an Oscar winner who has put her American accent to use in “The Brothers Bloom” and “The Lovely Bones.” Second, it doesn’t hurt that the director and producer of the film, Darren Aronofsky, is her fiancé and father of her son. Third, there’s no denying the resemblance.
No release date is known since Aronofsky is still courting distributors.
Meanwhile, People reports Katie Holmes will play the first lady in an eight hour mini-series, “The Kennedys.” Scheduled to air on the History Channel in 2011, other actors include Greg Kinnear, Tom Wilkinson, and Barry Pepper.
So, are you looking forward to watching yet another movie about Mrs. Kennedy?
